East York is Canada’s only borough and is the smallest of the areas that make up the Greater Toronto Area.  East York boasts numerous apartment complexes as well as many affordable houses and basement apartments for rent.

Traditionally, East York has had a population of predominantly senior citizens.  But that is all changing with an influx of new families that are taking advantage of East York’s affordable housing and it’s accessibility to downtown Toronto.

Taylor Creek Park is a large park that runs through East York and is a cornerstone for the area. The park is a magnificent piece of land that stretches from Scarborough through East York and ends in North York.  Throughout the park there is a nine kilometre paved trail that is ideal for anything from cycling to in-line skating and from walking to jogging.  The parks real beauty is shown no better then in the autumn months when the thousands of trees are loose their leaves as they begin to change colour.  East York's City Hall is located on Coxwell Ave. and is located in the heart of East York.

East York Collegiate is the area’s largest high school and also has one of the most ethnically diverse student populations in the city.

The largest shopping mall in the area is called the East York Town Centre and it is located just west of Don Mills Rd. on Overlea Blvd.  This mall has many different stores and restaurants to fit everybody’s needs and also has a 24 hour Bowlerama.
